St Étienne de Frontignan
The ruins of the chapel of St Étienne de Frontignan lie hidden in the garrigue between Faugères and Roquessels. A chapel was built here in the VIc. The location was a refuge from barbarian invaders during the fifth century. A fortified refuge for the inhabitants of Faugères, Roquessels and Laurens was built and named "Massargues". The current ruins probably date from the XIIc and are all that remain of the hamlet. The walls of the chapel remain to a height of a meter or so but the square apse is higher, though roofless apart from the arch.
The ruins lie off a byway linking Faugères and Roqessels.
