Aeshna grandis - Brown Hawker - Le grande Aeschne

Description

The only large dragonfly found in the region with deeply coloured wings. The Brown Hawker is a large insect found by ponds and lakes in July to September. The female lays her eggs in submerged plants or rotten wood. A very strong flyer and often seen well away from water.
