Description
A large, olive green coloured dragonfly with inticate brown markings. This species gets its common name from its flight habit of quietly patrolling the river surface along tree-lined Rivers.
Male Peaceful Hawker resting on an ivy covered tree near to the River Orb at Cessenon (34). Sorry that the photo is not quite in focus.

23/06/2006 Male, near to the River Orb at Cessenon (34). The first time I've seen this species.
15/07/2006 Solitary individual near the Chapelle St Raphael, Hérépian, (34)
15/07/2006 Solitary male near our house in Lamalou-les-Bains (34).
