Dragonflies and Damselflies

Brachytron pratense - Hairy Dragonfly - L'Aeschne printanière

Description

This is an early year species on the wing from April to June. On close examination, it is noticeably hairy and this probably helps it to cope with low temperatures at that time of year. Flies low through marginal vegetation around still water.
