Coenagrion puella - Azure Damselfly - L'Agrion jouvencelle

Description

One of the blue and black damselflies, this species has a "U"-shaped mark on the second segment. This species is common and widespread near lakes, ponds and stagnant ditches.

Observations

01/06/2005   A few males in the grass by the River Mare, St-Etienne-d'Estrechoux (34)

22/06/2006   A few males at edge of Plan d'eau, Lunas (34)

20/07/2006   A few males at Lac de Bourdelet, Riols (34)

20/07/2006   10-30 males on a drainage ditch on acid pasture on the Somail plaeau between Faisse sur Agout and Lac de Vesoles (34). No females seen.

08/06/2007   3-10 females but no males seen at the Scamandre reserve in the Petit Camargue

22/06/2007   10-30 males seen at the Lac de Bourdelet (near Vésoles)

10/07/2008   10+ mailes and females including pairs in cop and ovipositing at the Plan d'eau near Lunas
