Sympecma fusca - Winter Damselfly - Le Leste brun

Description

This pale brown and black damselfly is the only species in Europe to overwinter as an adult. Individuals can be found throughout the winter on mild sunny days. It breeds in small, still pools and is tolerant of some salinity.

Observations

28/03/2005   A few individuals flying in tandem found among reeds around a small brackish pool near coastal lagoons at Frontignan, Hérault (34).
